As a Mental Health Counselor, my goal is to be as empathic and compassionate as possible to provide services that will help empower, encourage, promote positive change to clients to help them to become the best version of themselves that they can be and to help them to reach their full potential.
I am currently a resident in counseling working towards becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor. I have a total of 5 years working in the mental health field. I have a special interest in working with adolescents, young, and middle-aged adults with a wide range of issues and concerns. Before joining the VBCC team, Karion had gained valuable experience working with children and adolescents for Norfolk Public Schools as a Therapeutic Day Treatment Counselor. He is a certified Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP). As a day treatment counselor, Karion provided services such as psycho-educational and group activities to students to help promote social and interpersonal skills, appropriate peer relations, anger management, impulse control, problem-solving skills, appropriate self-expression, and focus and redirection.
Karion is taking the opportunity to continue his career development at VBCC as a Resident in Mental Health Counseling. He enjoys working with middle aged and young adults, adolescents and children applying his skills as a QMHP human services counseling and coach. Because of his outstanding demonstration of client care and keen insights, he also serves as Assistant Client Care Coordinator for our Office.
Theoretical Approach: The theoretical approaches that I have adapted into my counseling are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution Focused Therapy (SFT).
